Rooted in the past, but firmly grounded in the present, BluesWorks performs traditional acoustic blues with a touch of jazz - from string band and country blues to New Orleans swamp boogie and originals about contemporary life. With piano, harmonica, mandolin, guitar, and heart-felt vocals, The Washington Post said their music is known to "...swiftly move an audience."

Based in Maryland, award-winning artists Paul Watson & Judy Luis-Watson tour as a duo, performing at concerts, and conducting music education programs. Paul is originally from Washington, DC, and Judy grew up in Tanzania, East Africa. Their music is a synthesis of their diverse cultural backgrounds. They also perform with long-time collaborator guitarist Mark Puryear and percussionist Jammin' Tempo.

Arts Heritage Workshops throughout the U.S. feature Paul & Judy as faculty, teaching blues harmonica, piano, mandolin, and vocals. The duo regularly produces music education programs.

Founded in 1991, BluesWorks' second CD One Step - Live at IMT! was recorded at their 10th anniversary concert by renowned Folkways engineer Pete Reiniger and was released to critical acclaim. The Washington Area Music Association (WAMA) nominated One Step for "Best Blues Recording."
