"Professor Bears Bedtime Blues" was developed to look at some of the issues involving bedtime using light-hearted and upbeat lyrics that are simple to sing along with. The music incorporates a mix of blues, swing, jazz, and folk. The songs are about friendships, working hard, eating too much, the difficulties of getting ready for bed, dreaming, the need for sleep and looking forward to the new day ahead.
Ira "Professor Bear" Fiedelman, who has been playing harmonica for 20 years, is joined by Randy "Guitar Dog" Gildersleeve. Gildersleeve is an experienced guitarist and guitar instructor.
An accompanying sing-a-long booklet with all lyrics and song descriptions is also available. As Professor Bear says "At a time when parent and kids struggle to spend time together and often find tension at bedtime, here is a way to help with both. Sing with me or just listen and relax."
Fiedelman is a clinical social worker in Minnesota and was recently named school social worker of the year for 2002.
