Back Forty has a truly original sound. Throw a Funk/Soul bassist in with a hard grooving-experimental drummer, mix in two superb singer/song writing guitarists that have been collaborating together for over 7 years, top it off with an insane fiddle player that has more effect pedals than musician's friend and can hit high notes with his voice like maria carey, and you have Back Forty.
Our eclectic group of musicians and their backgrounds is also portrayed in the music. One live set may contain folk, reggae, jazz, experimentation, blues, funk, bluegrass, and swing elements.
Back Forty is a very unique band. You will be hard pressed to find another local Michigan band that comes close to our sound. We thrive on the live stage where we fall into spur of the moment experimental jams.
