Best selling latvain pop musician and composer ever- Raimonds Pauls!

Most known Latvian pop composer Raimonds Pauls was born in Rig. He started to play piano already in childhood and attended well-known music school named by E.Dārziņš. R.Pauls continued his education at Latvia's State Conservatoire where he studied piano. R. Pauls already being as a student was piano virtuoso. As piano player at restaurants at that time maestro get into jazz classics.

At the beginning of 60-ties R.Pauls studied the art of composition and later (from 1964. - 1971.) became the conductor and piano player of Riga' s Estrada orchestra. In 1972 R.Pauls found the band of estrada - "Modo" where as singers were in Latvia well-known singers of that time like V.Lapčenoks, N.Bumbiere. "Modo" was successful band that became famous in former Soviet Union and got some success abroad as well.

From 1978 till 1982. R.Pauls was conductor of Soviet Latvian TV and radio orchestra of Estrada and carried on as editor in chief for musical broadcasts of both - State TV and radio. After R.Pauls initiative was formed such bands as "Remix", "Inversija", "Credo", "Dālderi" that all had great success.

Raimonds Pauls apart from musical career always have been politically active. He used to be deputy already in Soviet Latvia and worked at committee of Education, Science and Culture. From 1988 till 1993 maestro used to me minister of Culture and on 1993 he became councillor of Latvian president. At present he is a Member of the Parliament of the Republic of Latvia.

Notwithstanding his political activities R.Pauls never stopped doing music and performing. He has had continuous co-operation with most famous Latvian children band "Dzeguzīte"; together with known Latvian singer Laima Vaikule he performed in Moscow, St. Peterburg and New York (at Madison Square Garden). In 1997 together with Latvian and international musicians R.Pauls made performance at Latvian national Opera dedicated to his favourite composer's George Gerswin centenary.

R.Pauls is laureate of several awards of the pop-music festivities in Sopot (Poland) and Bratislava (Bratislavas Lira), (Slovakia). Founder and organizer of the following Latvian annual pop-music festivities: "Jurmala", Children's Music Festivity "Calis", Annual Schaller Festival during the Summer Solstice (National Holiday in Latvia) as well as Great Latvian Music Award ceremony.

Raimond Pauls is one of the greatest musicians of Latvia ever and his music is close to every Latvian and his art has reached also audience abroad as some of his albums have had releases abroad. And seems R.Pauls never will get enough of music as he continues co-operations with new talents of Latvian music scene, he is doing concerts, writing new material and has never lost the faith in the music.

Musical works:
5 TV shows (1972-1975), 7 musicales (a special popularity was gained by Sister Carry (1978), Join the Guys (1982) Wild Swans (1995) and "Legend about Green Lady (2000)), music for 3 ballets and more than 50 movies and theatre performances. He has gained love of his fans with his more than 600 melodic pop-songs, including also about 150 songs for children. His songs performed by all famous Russian and Latvian artists such as - Alla Pugatchova, Valery Leontjev, Laima Vaikule, Igo, etc.
