YOU & ME*: Imagine DJ Spooky on a quart of Red Bull. You & Me combines elements of Illbient, Noise Hop, Hi Tech Grind, Couch Core, IDM, and Music Concrete. The jungle beats and sharp sounds have been describes as Depth Charge/Meat Beat Manifesto meets Alec Empire/Download with a splash of Funkstorung/Funckarma. This is electronic mayhem for the strong - from the Analog Aether/Deadly Disc camp.
*This re-release includes a bonus, limited edition EP, Triple DDD.
About KUSSER: Through his radio shows on community and pirate radio, he honed the tastes that would become Illbient Night Music. Stolen snippets of distorted breakbeats dissolve into throbbing ambient noisescapes mixed with charity-shop records. The success of 1999's Illbient Night Music led to appearances on the Aquatica compilation, remixes for Mad Monkey Records, and a key role in the indytronic supergroup, A .I. A . From this collective sprang the development of the Analog Aether and Deadly Discs imprints. Kusser's growth as a composer and musician are evident in Deadly Discs' first release, You & Me. This album reflects eclectic musical interests and proves Kusser's reputation for creating the hardest beats around. Attacking, built-from-scratch random beats soundclash with reggae bass riddims to produce a more melodic, dangerous construct. Major influences on his sound include Meat Beat Manifesto, Funkstörung, Alec Empire, Funckarma, Techno Animal, Cabaret Voltaire, the Orb, and Skinny Puppy.
Kusser Smith's work proves that the Austin music scene is more than blues-rock and alt-country.
Urban Decay EP on the Ethedrone Muzac Label was released June 2003.
