Most of these tracks are based on songs I’ve played on the piano and base guitar for years. Alaska’s a little short on rock stars, so I had to go down the “band of one†route, and record and publish on my own (as a side note, my 2nd album I’m working on now is appropriately called “The Recluseâ€). Many of the songs in “Days of Glory†were written with lyrics as well, but I’ve only recently acquired the technology to do live recordings, so I hope to record complete versions of these songs soon. This album, I confess, is really a test-album. I want to see how many people out there are interested in my kind of tunes. A lot of the local feedback I receive is positive, so hopefully us bush-dwellers aren’t that out-of-touch. We’ll see. The album art was done by my brother.
To explain the name of my band, my brother has a distinct style of artwork, using cardboard slabs as his medium. A lot of his stuff was drawn on real trashy cardboard until I became his agent, supplying him with “the good stuff†that I would get from work, like the real thick, juicy cardboard fresh off a brand-new shipped refrigerator. From then on, I became his “cardboard connection.†It was suggested that I volunteer my services to the homeless, giving them supplies for shelters and whatnot (I hope not to offend anyone with that, but it was just a joke years ago). So the name stuck and here I am.
