Dreea is born in Romania and comes from a family of musicians (so the gene didn’t escape her). With a bachelors in classical piano (yes, classical) form the New England Conservatory, and a Masters from Harvard (who knew?), she’s well-versed in what it means to be a musician and a composer. Dreea writes songs for piano and voice (both are her own), along with her band from Boston, which now includes: Jeremy Udden (saxophones, etc), Josh Feinberg (bass) and Eric Platz (drums).

Andreea Pauta, is a voice unlike any other. Having performed classical, jazz, hindustani, and contemporary improvisatoin, Dreea has chosen to composer herself in a very unusual way – combining elements of each genre, while remaining out of the musical genre “box”. This is why it is so difficult to place Dreea's music in a defined, boxed category of music...It contains bits of everything, is free and ubound, like her her spirit.

The original recording you’re listening to on this page is from a live 2001 recording. Dreea performed with many of her musician friends, worked with the marvelous engineer Cameron Wiley, and has no overdubs in post-production (translation: this is real and raw, guys – exactly as it took place the night of the concert). It features her songs for piano and voice (again, she does both), along with arrangements (derrangements, she calls them) for guitar, drums, saxophone, violin, and viola. The range of lyrics travels from Jeremy's "lives next to Sears" to Tuesday Eve, depicting a dreamy bar scene, to Junk's deep lyrics "alone in the understanding of openness...how you..". This album is a perfect example of how music can really be limitless, and unrestricted…and still be something everyone can understand, interpret, and appreciate.

Dreea loves dark chocolate (mmmm). And puppies. And the rain. No, not puppies IN the rain. Just separate. And Dreea thanks you for visiting her site. Other sites:
