Every now and then in the world of Hip Hop, an oxymoronic world where hard core professions of manhood and nursery rhyme inspired catchiness somehow find room to coexist, a true artist comes along. Anyone who has ever spent hours in a music store sifting through countless albums trying to find something special, or flipping from one radio station to another desperately looking for a breath of fresh air amongst the musical smog that fills our airwaves knows exactly what I'm talking about. When you hear music from a true artist, it touches you. It's like finding a diamond in a stack of cubic zirconium. They may all look shiny enough from a distance, but once you get close enough to see that one with true shine, that piercing gleam, you know you've found a real gem. Peeling off the plastic cover on Dialek's 'Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome' and exposing yourself to the work of art inside is this kind of experience.

First honing his skill as a producer and MC in high school, Dialek has stayed true to his humble roots as an artist while spreading his wings and showcasing his various talents on 'Syndrome'. The result is an album that is truly Dialek. No record label forced "radio friendly cuts," no exaggerated tales of fake thuggery and buying Maybach coupes like its nothing, and most importantly no money spent on a chaotic array of mismatched producers. 'Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome' is an album in the truest sense with Dialek himself credited with production and writing on every song. What we get on 'Syndrome' is 14 songs worth of uninterrupted raw beats, piercing battle lyricism and introspective lyrics over smooth, chilling tracks, all blended together with a true artist's stroke of genius. This album is Dialek through and through. His passion for composing music shines on undeniable bangers like "Kill That Noise", "My Throne" and the incredible "Breaking Point", with guest spots from fellow Purest Form members A-Ron and Alibi. Balancing the equation are mellower, but thought provoking joints like "Taken for Granted" where Dialek breaks down some of the great but simple privileges we have in this life. Particularly in today's world of recycled beats and gimmicky record label sales ploys, it's refreshing to find an artist like Dialek who still feels his music should represent who he really is, not just some alter ego created for fans.

In the end it is the rare combination of beats, lyrics, poetry, song, excitement and deep contemplation that makes Syndrome the standout album that it is. Much like Mos Def's "Black on Both Sides", this is an alum that will not only attract the purists, but will have fans of all kinds of music rocking out to this diverse blend of Hip Hop in its purest forms. As Dialek so aptly informs us on the standout track "My Purpose", his mission is to "help change lives, touch people's hearts, reveal wicked lies, elevate the art, speak to the youth, stimulate your mental, seek for the truth and reach my full potential." With an album like "Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome" under his belt, that mission is accomplished.
