Compás is based out of Silver City, New Mexico. They play a wide variety of World Music, including Brazilian Samba and MPB sung in Portuguese, Afro-Cuban Son and Gipsy Rumbas sung in Spanish or played instrumentally on nylon-stringed guitars, Reggae and Carribbean rhythms, as well as some Afro-Beat.
Band members are brothers Peter and Andrew Dahl-Bredine, who sing and play lead and rhythm guitar, Michele Parlee on bass, and Jerry Boswell and Debaura James on percussion, including congas, bongos, cajones, djembes, doumbeks, bells, shakers, and on and on the list could go :0)
