Captain Galaxy was born in Brooklyn NY and began playing guitar at the age of 8.
12 years ago he began studying the effects a variety of tones had on the emotional state of the listener. These experiments began with John Schumann (see John Schumann FX pedals at johnschumann.com) at his Analog Sound Manipulation Institute in the mountainous regions of Western Massachusetts.
The results of these experiments led them to conclude that analog sound, due to it's inherent synchronicity with the natural world i.e. using magnetic fields to store wave vibrations would have the greatest impact on the listeners emotional response, as recordings of the 50's 60's and 70's seem to prove.
Recordings of this group called The Ghost Orchestra remain underground classics, stunning listeners with sounds never before produced by guitars as the group's determination to create an entire orchestra of sounds, including drums, solely through the analog manipulation of guitars was carried out.
Songs were recorded using up to 40 guitars in various states of analog modifications yielding results as varied as the woodwind, string, brass, and percussion sections of orchestral music, bird whistles, howling winds, fire, ocean-waves, etc. etc... as well as traditional guitar sounds.
3 years ago Captain Galaxy broke from The Ghost Orchestra to begin writing and producing songs of his own that took the disciplines of those experiments and melded them with more traditional pop rock formats and innovations of the 60's and 70's.
So here are the unique results of those years of experiments, a late night, chilled out, sexy ride where Brian Wilson meets Pink Floyd meets a King Tubby version of Radiohead, Sigur Ros, Mogwai and the Flaming Lips. Part of the new sounds of rock in the 21st century.
