Vocals that lead you down ancient staircases. A toy tambourine, a wood flute, an acoustic and electric guitar, ample percussion. A somewhat strident-sounding piano found in the free studio space where by weekend day and night I'd say, "What did you do there? Do that again." And from there--track after track, song after song--to somewhere here.

Not to forget of course the wealth of amazing collaborators: Gregg Hardy on drums, Jeffrey Harrison on acoustic guitar and vocals, Lynnea Eagle on flute and electric guitar, Joey Chang on cello, Tim Howard on mandolin, Chien Tan on violin and Katie Teague for co-writing the music for Wash Away.

If this album doesn't follow you, haunt you, comfort you, awaken you, challenge you, inspire you, then you're simply not listening. It's not about being produced or perfect. It's about truth-saying or 'turning the ship,' to borrow from one of Andi's images. It's about saying no to everything that keeps us in our old restrictive mindsets. It's about being real, human, down to earth.

And though you won't find many references to love in these 12 tracks, as far as I can tell that's all Andi sings about. Love that is pared down and bare at times, love with rough edges, love that takes responsibility, love that understands pain and also how to heal. An album bold enough to tell the truth.
