CATALYST is a new alternative rock band from Louisville, Ky previously AVER, formed in 1996 with front man Derek Caswell. AVER created a buzz in Louisville, playing the local Battle of the Bands at the Kentucky Fairgrounds two years in a row and clubs like Pandemonium.
CATALYST, formed in 2005, with Derek Caswell on vocals and guitar, Jon Silliman on bass, and Steve Risinger on drums; gives listeners guitar orientated rock with melodic hooks. CATALYST is currently playing in local bars and pubs such as Max Liquors and Pappy's Sports Bar. They competed at The Rustic Frog's Battle of the Bands in October. CATALYST has also volunteered for various charity events and fund raisers for the community. The Band just recorded their debut album THE EMPTINESS OF BEING in January 2005 which is also now available at Ear-X-Tacy on Bardstown Road and at shows.
