In the Beginning was the Word...
and the Word came to a Woman.
Written by David O. Offutt. Narrated by Christy & Mark Huffman.
THE BYZANTINE VIRGIN tells a story of a young woman, pregnant, alone, spurned by the community because she believes she will give birth to the Messiah.
That being said, you never hear the word,"Messiah",in the text. The suggestion emerges as the story unfolds. As does the realization that most of the while the woman speaks to the infant within her.
David's poems appeared in numerous small press mags and journals across the United States, including AURA,CHACHALACA, FREE LUNCH, ZILLAH, and many, many more. He performed on KCTI radio, out of Gonzales Texas, KPFT Public Radio, out of Houston, Texas, at the Victoria Public Library, Victoria Texas on several occasions.
