RECLAIMING AMERICAN DEMOCRACY THROUGH AWARENESS AND ACTION, a town hall forum headlined by prominent activist/journalists David Harris and Daniel Ellsberg, drew a sellout crowd to college of Marin's Olney Hall. Belva Davis, moderator of KQED's "this Week in Northern California" moderated the forum and the question and answer period that followed.
This production includes excerpted highlights of the evening, plus a special in-studio session in which Belva Davis asks David Harris additional questions that focus on the topics of active citizenship, political organizing and the role of a minority opposition to the Bush administration and its policies.
Daniel Ellsberg is best known for disclosing to the media in 1969 the Pentagon Papers, which figured in the impeachment proceedings against then-President Richard Nixon.
David Harris, an international journalist and author who was one of the founders of the Vietnam War Resistance. He has reported from Iraq and written several books on American foreign policy.
